MEEEE TOOO!
I’m on Christmas break now! No work for 5 days. Yea Baaaaby! How much trouble can I get into in five days?? How much more trouble could I get into if White were here? LOL
Why, officially?
I think the Buddhist/Shinto/ Hedonistic Japanese do a bang up job celebrating Xmas. I certainly support most of their ideas. Cheaper, more fun, no family dramas.
Although for dinner, I’d prefer a supermarket rotisserie chicken.
PS: I especially like the too-cute-for-words Japanese elf and associated ideas. Although here the further south of 30 one goes the more expensive it becomes. (or so I’m told).
PPS: A lot of companies of all sizes shut down from December 24th to January 2 at least. My dentist is closed from 8 Dec to 18 January. I was very glad to have found one very easily yesterday.
Christmas here is “CHINESE NEW YEAR” 'Sau-hey Bok Manny Pot du-say-yo!"
새해 복 많이 받으세요
Ohhhhh man!!! I wish I was there! Have a shit ton of fun and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do! Hehehehehe
Happy NEW YEAR
Ha ha ha ha … I’m an introvert. A co teacher dropped by and we went shopping for a third teacher who just arrived in Korea. The third teacher is on house arrest (Quarentine) for 14 days. So we used Kao-kao talk to do virtual shopping for her. I spent the rest of the day sleeping.
Tomorrow I am going to throw out my bed and begin looking for a new one. The mattress is shit. Then I am going to go by the office, scan a copy of my ID and passport, fill out a document and submit it to the labor office. I am still in the middle of a lawsuit as I attempt to collect back wages owed to me by my previous company.
Finally, the guy who was “teaching???” before me was a fucking idiot, and left everything in such a mess that I have to make up all sorts of classes in addition to staying on top of my own, training the incoming staff, and getting the staff that is there in line with some new paperwork and ways of writing reports that are in line with Korean demands.
The best thing about this vacation is the amount of sleep I am going to get before Monday happens!
Oh… I have a santa video, Now I gotta figure out how to post it. Can we post short videos?? Hmmm. Looks like only a screen shot. Send me a kao-kao or skype link and I’ll send you Cog being Santa. khartman180
I don’t, I guess it depends in which country you live. Now I am in Asia and for most people 25th is a usual day. Last year I was visiting friends in their property in Costa Blanca property here and they were obsessed with this holiday, they bought a LOT of food with lots of different alcohol and it was really a huge party when a lot of their close people gather together. On the other hand New Year celebration wasn’t that big.
Ricky Gervais gave a perfect reply to this question when he was asked, “Do you celebrate Christmas?”
He said he celebrates every day of life.
The point is, you don’t need to belong to a certain religion or culture to celebrate life. What do people do on Christmas, Eid, Holi and other religious festivals? They spend more time with their family, eat together, go on a holiday and celebrate.
Atheists take it one step further because we value the preciousness and fragility of life. We know this is the one and only life we’ll ever have so why not make the best out of every single second of it? Whether that second happens to fall on a day when it is Christmas or something else, doesn’t damn matter!
Not quite. Please take care in ascribing characteristics to atheists as a group. There no atheist positions on any topic other than a belief in god(s)
As it turns out, I value each day far more than I did say 50, even 30 years ago. I think that’s because at 73, there are no longer all that many shopping days before Xmas. Nothing whatsoever to do directly with my atheism.
Perhaps not expecting my ego to survive death I have come to understand that this ain’t the rehearsal death cults such as christianity teach. However, I may not reasonably expect any other atheists to share that view simply because they are atheists.
