Obviously Gandhi never read the Bible. He would have read about the lying asshole who told people to turn the other cheek and then fashioned a whip to beat the shit out of them and destroy their livelihoods. He would have found the asshole who threatened any city that did not listen to him with antihalation. Gandhi is a grossly over rated figure.
I think his notion of social and political change through non violent civil disobedience was/is naive as a general principle.
EG: He was asked how his satyagraha movement would go against the Nazis. He said"it would be difficult, but would work" The nazis would have simply arrested Gandhi and anyone associated with him and either shot them out of hand or bunged them into concentration camps. Just as they did with Socialists, Communists, Trade unionist and any other dissidents. There was no opposition party in Nazi Germany.
Gandhi was a devout Hindu*** who counted a cleric and several English and American eccentrics among his supporters in India. He probably was given a very simplistic view of Christ. He said nothing about the horrors in the Torah
***Some rather simplistic and fervent beliefs about the divine. Hinduism can be very inclusive. Gandhi would have no problem simply absorbing simple views of Christ and Christianity.
Richard Attenborough’s hagiography “Gandhi” gives a very misleading view of the man and his views. Not a bad film taken as entertainment, although a bit too fucking pious for me.
