Although incredulous beyond belief, I ain’t never really seen nor heard of Taylor Swift, except she is the girlfriend of Travis Kelce. I had to do a Bing search.
Thus, I am an Unbeliever in Taylor Swift also. Just like all those god-things humans have created. However, I do admit that she at least DOES exist. I just don’t believe in her.
In all honesty, I do not watch, listen, nor read about the world at large except for what I want. I ignore ALL else perhaps at me own great peril. Additionally, I have too many other things I got to keep up with that kind of makes me say, “Fuck the world. I am too busy for the bullshit.”
Even retired I still consult with other scientists. Taking care of me mom (I am 76, so imagine me mom’s age…). Taking care of me home (at least paid, and only have to pay rent known as taxes). And rarely get time to come here on these boards a couple of days, or three.
I ain’t got time to keep up with the outside world except major stuff.
So, for any Swifters, I just don’t believe in her. Sorry.
Anecdotally, my then pre-teen daughter used to be a huge Taylor Swift fan. But suddenly she stopped, and announced she didn’t like her anymore. The reason she gave was that Swift’s songs were too alike, and there was no variation in her music. She further stated that one could replace the lyrics of one song with that of another, and you wouldn’t be able to hear a difference.
Nearly all of Swift’s songs are about young [pre]teen relationship angst and likely your daughter was moving on from middle school and it became unrelatable to her. However that is a pretty self-aware and cogent analysis she did there, compared to most kids. Most people know what they like or dislike, but not why, due to insufficient self-reflection or even self-awareness. Particularly that young. Sounds like an impressive young lady.
