No, but my great, great, great, great, (a shitload more greats), great grandmother did. Apparently those apples were not for public consumption.
Fucking snakes, who knew?
CyberLN,
The question was in the context of religion
EDIT> And, this one just popped into my head. What finite wrong did you or could you possibly do, that is equal to ETERNAL torture? “Eternal? Really?”
Dear @Sheldon, I think this was just a hypothetical question, please do NOT take it as a challenge
.
Hmmmm. I don’t know? I was kinda hoping for a reply?
I knew it was hypothetical, and so I gave a hypothetical reply.
Just playing the devil’s advocate here . . . but keep in mind that certain evil acts have consequences that are constantly ongoing.
As an example, consider WWII.
We still have negative consequences even today from WWII . . . such as the Cold War, which was a stupid waste of resources which should have been used for things like battling climate change, universal healthcare, and so forth.
So, people are dying today from WWII, and if humanity dies off from climate change (because the Cold War siphoned money away from renewable energy, for example), then Hitler should maybe suffer eternally.
My points may seem like a “reach” . . . but similar reasoning is used in lawsuits all of the time.
Torturing people forever, because they failed to pick the correct version of the correct deity from a list of countless thousands, in the absence of any objective evidence, doesn’t seem any less heinous than the Holocaust to me.
Hell, torturing anyone forever for any reason doesn’t.

Except we’re not talking only about Hitler, and Hitler was a baptised Catholic alter boy, it’s conceivable he repented right at the end and will enjoy an eternity of bliss, while for context Gandhi will be tortured forever.
Stalin is probably fucked either way, if that cheers anyone up in this fantasy game of eternal torture. ![]()
I largely agree with you . . . I was just exploring ideas. In any case, I don’t believe in Hell anyway . . . and I wouldn’t believe in Hell even if I was deeply religious, as I’m a Jew.

ahhhhhhhhhh My reverse psychology didn’t work. I was hoping you’d do something truly epic and news worthy like wear a polyester/cotton suit combo or covet your neighbors new weed whacker. Being doomed to eternal torture for not believing without sufficient evidence just seems so lame
.

Well I’m not dead yet. ![]()
If there’s a hell and it’s like christians describe then for most people it must be like the person who unwittingly drove a get away car finding themselves a cell mate with a deranged mass murderer. Of course heaven will be populated with all those sick f++ks who repented. I’m sure all those pedophile priests will be there because who better understands the loop holes? Neither place seems particularly appealing.
Well there is no objective evidence either deity depicted is real obviously, but you need to read your bible again if you really believe that claim, as that statement is asinine. Unless you think the same persona can produce an emphatic and glowing endorsement of slavery, a genocidal global flood, torture a newborn baby to death over 7 days out of anger at adultery, encourage its human pets to commit acts of ethnic cleansing that would make Hitler or Stalin puke, and then traffic the girls who were virgins as sex slave spoils, but then go on to lecture humans to love their enemies as themselves.
Sheldon, you have said there are is no good and evil but at the same time you argue the God of the bible is essentially evil. I am not sure i understand.
If you conclude that God is evil then you think there is morality
If not why are you trying to call God out?
Sheldon, you have said…
- Why do you believe the Noah flood myth, when the geological record demonstrates unequivocally that no global flood has ever occurred?
- How does the human genome evidence any deity, as you claimed?
- If the human genome evidences a deity, then why is atheism almost universal among elite biologists, for example in the National Academy of Sciences?
Switching threads won’t help, you need to show some integrity, otherwise I will simply re-post these questions you’ve dodged each time you visit.
Sheldon…but at the same time you argue the God of the bible is essentially evil.
Can you provide a link to Sheldon saying that?

I long ago stopped expecting @WhoAreYou to show any integrity. It could just be the usual “lies for Jesus” of course, or he/she could be trolling, either way I am done playing.
Out of curiosity, do we get any sincere, reasonable theists on this form whom are intelligent and easy to dialog with?
Or am I just being a bigot?

Yes, we do. They seem few and far between though.
Ok. Thank you for replying.
