BUT.
FIRST: I can make the sentence of scenario B “Bob tolerated Jimmy’s preference to paint the room green.” and if I read it to 100, or even 1000 people on the street they would state it makes semantic sense and doesn’t violate the definition of Tolerate even though it’s about preference.
SECOND: if we’re voting on something say a law to have God be taught in schools or not (a religious discussion) that is an “either/or scenario”. Sure we could insert other options making more scenarios but it doesn’t have to be more scenarios for it to be a tolerance opportunity. Therefore either/or scenarios are valid. and my example is valid.
