I can not agree with your scenario. Tolerance is not about one person having any preference about anything, or even an either/or scenario, but everyone living without conflict.
Why this rule?
That forces an either/or scenario, not applicable to the religious debate on tolerance.
Have you ever considered that tolerance may be allowing each person to practice their own faith, and not attempting to control or dominate others?
