Here’s a response but I might not get back to this thread as consistently as the Kalam for now!
Tolerance definition = 1 : capacity to endure pain or hardship : endurance, fortitude, stamina. 2a : sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or conflicting with one’s own. b : the act of allowing something : toleration.
Now I’m not saying whether or not Theism should be tolerated, I’m simply trying to ask if you guys tolerate Theism. Here’s an example I’d like to share to show a point.
Scenario A
- Bob and Jimmy are in a high school class.
- Every month students can paint the room a single color of their choice.
- Bob like Blue and hates green, Jimmy likes Green and hates blue.
- Last month the room was painted blue and Bob was happy.
- This month Jimmy says “we should paint the room green!”
- Bob replies “you’re a stupid idiot, and your color is trash, keep it to your self.”
- Jimmy still paints the room Green.
Scenario B
Same as above till point 6.
6. Bob replies “I don’t like green but ok.”
7. Jimmy paints the room Green.
Both Scenario’s end with the room being green but in which one was Bob Tolerant given the definition of tolerance and ergo would Jimmy have reasonably felt “feel” free to do what he wanted? (again I’m not debating the good or bad of blue or green. Simply the actions of tolerance.
