You’re wrong about this, there is NO evidence of a global flood, anywhere. Of course biblical archaeologists are going to conclude that the stories in your christian handbook are the truth, this is called confirmation bias.
His claim was hyperbolic nonsense anyway.

The abstraction has begun to leak, and he’s trying to salvage the abstraction by ejecting the parts that are leaking (for him). At some point he’ll realize the other parts leak, too. Besides, Christianity is a set of evolved interlocking memes … it really doesn’t work as well (for its stated ends, for recruitment, self-perpetuation, etc) in part as in whole. He wants to go with annihilationism but that’s already been done. But I doubt he wants to become a JW, a 7th Day Adventist, a regular Adventist or, a Christadelphian to make it happen. Some of this is about trying to keep the parts he likes that haven’t bit him (yet).
He’s an adult, he’ll figure it out. Or not.
