Islam and the rationalization for the rewards

Thank you @Wily_cat, for the link to the Pew study. It was an interesting read. I’m not sure if you noticed or not but the study provided results per a set of countries, not for the total of all Muslims.

From the study report, “ Overwhelming percentages of Muslims in many countries want Islamic law (sharia) to be the official law of the land, according to a worldwide survey by the Pew Research Center. But many supporters of sharia say it should apply only to their country’s Muslim population.”
Note it says “many countries”, not all countries.

Also, although the U.S. was mentioned, the study graphs did not include any or all Western Europe, N and S American countries. Therefore, not all Muslims so it never reports anything about the overall majority. I also don’t remember seeing any data about the sex of those interviewed. Was it all men? Perhaps I missed that. So I’m still dubious about the initial claim you made.

The report also says that of those interviewed, the majority said they favored democracy and thought sharia law should apply only to Muslims, not everyone, and that most felt tolerance toward other religions. I find that interesting.

Do I think there are folks who adhere to Islam who are small-minded and misogynistic? Of course! I also think there are small-minded, misogynistic people in pretty much any category you can name, including atheists. No one corners the market on that. Do I think Islam is a horrible religion? Absolutely! Do I think the majority of Muslims are horrible people? Probably not.
