In defence of hedonism

Sorry for the confusion Boomer…

So… Lava is not rock? Stupid fucking scientists! Why in the fuck do they go about calling it “Volcanic Rock.” God damn it. Now I have to change my whole world view… or just realize you don’t have a fucking clue. Why don’t you try reading a book before your next comment.

Are you addressing me?

I have no problem with daily reality. My problem is with claims of absolute truths— truths change. I think I understand about volcanic rocks. What I know is fine right now. I have no idea what what more may be learned at some indefinite time in the future

As Mr Gump said " -----and that’s all I have to say about that"

You’re quite right of course, I really need to do a LOT more reading. Sadly, neither my concentration or short term memory are what they were.

@Tabooscientist

Still no explanation of, or any attempt to evidence your woo woo superstitious nonsense about spirituality and souls, quelle surprise.

I love your moronic claims about logic in the middle of all those ad hominem fallacies though, especially since your posts are barely cogent semi literate gibberish.

If I wanted to watch videos I wouldn’t be in a fucking debate forum, so if you are too dim witted to explain it yourself then I suggest to do one, and don’t let the door hit you in the arse on your way out.

Exactly, why the fuck would we need to create a complex method of reasoning like logic, if it we were already logical.

I know, this is striking me more and more as a severe example of the Dunning Kruger effect. I mean can this idiot not Google a word definition?

@Tabooscientist will have to learn to read a dictionary and understand word definitions first, or he will get as much from a book, as we can glean from the erroneous gibberish he keeps posting.

OR…upgrade his quality of YouTube videos. There is some quality information there - and there is…🤦

I was speaking for my self, and if that is what you think okay.

You people can’t really cant discern between a metaphor cant you. When i say we arent animals because we dont have insticnt obviously im talking anything that is not in the homosepian species, and when isay we are rational animals i am stating we are organisms with a distinct ability…RATIONALITY.

And really none of you comprehend my my philosophi9cal statements, just proves all of you are being spiteful rather then have a discussion.

face palm

Lava is Lava
Lava is lava because of its a liquid and has certain properties like being HOT WHICH YOU FUCKING DONT CONSIDER WHEN TRYING TO IDENTIFY A THING!!!

Im done and I QUIT AND LEAVING

No one here knows you.

YOU use words like spiritual and soul. But then say we don’t understand “how YOU meant them”

YOU say humans aren’t animals - NOW you say it is a metaphor (a thing regarded as representative or symbolic of something else, especially something abstract) without NAMING the “thing” we are (you know, to complete the metaphor)…

YOU claim you are talking philosophy, yet not once did you actually present a PHILOSOPHICAL thought for consideration…

Best you go and find a site suitable to you…

Edited to rant: Who the fuck would want specific language in a debate forum??? Shock the shit out of me! Go back to the kiddie pool :baby:t3:

It proves that you are shit at English. It is the writer’s responsibility to write clearly so that the reader can understand. It is not the reader’s responsibility to guess at the meaning the writer intended.

Humans don’t have instincts??? What the fuck planet were you raised on?

List of human instincts:

  1. Fear. Fear is our emotional response to dangerous circumstances

  2. Associated with fear is anxiety. The person in a survival setting reduces his anxiety by performing those tasks that will ensure his coming through the ordeal alive.

  3. Frustration arises when a person is continually thwarted in his attempts to reach a goal. One outgrowth of this frustration is anger reactions. Anger is always about getting what you want.

  4. Depression; It would be a rare person indeed who would not get sad, at least momentarily, when faced with the privations of survival. As this sadness deepens, we label the feeling “depression.” Depression is closely linked with frustration and anger.

  5. Loneliness and Boredom, Our instincts are to be social animals. This means we, as human beings, enjoy the company of others. Very few people want to be alone all the time!

  6. Feelings of guilt.

Other instincts, including denial, revenge, tribal loyalty, greed and our urge to procreate, now threaten our very existence. Any attempt to control human behavior is bound to meet with resistance and disapproval.

YOU REALLY NEED TO READ A BOOK!!!

Because the great thing about self-flagellation and self-denial is that it’s so very nice when you stop. And don’t forget the exquisite thrill of feeling holier than all those pleasure-seeking sinners.

Seriously, though, endless pleasure soon becomes tiresome. Variety is the spice of life, including the contrast between striving and rewards.

A bizarre relationship between pursuit and earthy indulgences. The more we work for them, the more they seem to be enjoyed.

This is hypocrisy mixed with racism. Back in the day, pictures of naked white women were considered obscene, but pictures of naked women of color in Africa, South America, or Asia were ok because they were scientific or anthropological or some such. That double standard sold an awful lot of National Geographic magazines back in the days before Playboy and Penthouse. Think back to the movie “Zulu” (1964). They had a tribal dance scene with hundreds of topless African women. I was 12 when I saw it, so it must have been classified for general viewing. if those women had been white, it would probably have been banned altogether.

Hypocrisy?
Topless Women

Indeed

Yeah, happy early adolescent memories of those National Geographic photos of nude ‘native girls’.

A good example of what you’re talking about is the 1964 film “Zulu”. At a time when censorship was still going full bore and Mary Whitehouse was still getting her knickers all out of focus— It was shown in basic training because it showed the importance of discipline.

The film features a long scene of young Zulu women bare breasted, with skimpy beaded loin cloths, doing a mass ‘marriage dance’, with a large bunch of similarly attired young Zulu men… It was OK because they were ‘black natives’

Little children will immediately remove their hands from a hot stove, even if they have never seen a stove before, and even if they have never been burned before. It seems pretty obvious to me that humans have instincts.

What puzzles me is that it also seems pretty obvious that anyone capable of reading and writing enough to participate on a forum, surely must have have already seen hundreds or thousands of examples of this during their life. For such a person to then claim the opposite is rather disturbing. I don’t think I would want to be alone in a room with someone like that.

Guess we won’t be getting an explanation of how someone could possibly believe that humans don’t have instincts.

The “rock” we like to call earth, is both melting and freezing at the same time. (Mostly dependent on which side is facing the sun.)

This rock I am holding in my hand has an ice cube on one end, and an open flame on the other end.

Shall I go on?

FUCK!!! Would you fucking read a book before you post again! https://www.google.com/search?q=Melting+and+freezing+at+the+same+time&rlz=1C1NHXL_enKR703KR703&oq=Melting+and+freezing+at+the+same+time&aqs=chrome..69i57j0.9703j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

“So at the ’ freezing ’ point, there will be an equilibrium whereby some molecules of liquid lose their kinetic energy (in a collision) and freeze and an equal amount of ice molecules that gain kinetic energy (also via collision) and they melt . As a result, both freezing and melting occur at the same time .Jun 27, 2017”

Why is freezing and melting point the same?

Because melting point and freezing point describe the same transition of matter, in this case from liquid to solid ( freezing ) or equivalently, from solid to liquid ( melting ). … It is stuck on 0 ∘C during the entire melting or freezing process. It is easier to see this for boiling points .Jun 20, 2013

Please stop posting shit you know fuck all about… You do not understand physics in any sense of the word. You do not understand the laws of logic. Why don’t you try talking about that book you are allegedly reading.

To be fair, if he stayed here until he died I doubt we’d have ever had any satisfying explanation for that howler, or for his other howler that humans are not animals.

So far all he’s managed is a desperate attempt to wriggle out of the claims by suggesting they were meant as some sort of as yet unexplained metaphor. Another sign that suggest this one is not an atheist.

Mkay.

Try not to let the door hit you on the arse on your way out.
