This was part of the point of the debate.
There seems to be “error-correcting software” that is “built” into the mathematics that describes string theory.
I didn’t say that I “believe” that the Universe is a computer simulation . . . just that I’m open-minded toward the idea.
My own embellishment of an idea that points to the Universe being a simulation is the speed of light limit. I would suppose that if the Universe is a simulation in a computer, that this computer has a specific processing speed. If this is the case, then there is a limit as to how fast a change in the simulation can propagate itself . . . and our perception of the limit set by the speed of light represents this processing speed.
The speed of light is slower in substances such as glass, diamond, water, and so on. This idea of the speed of light representing computer processing speed is even explained by this, as the computer would have to crunch more numbers as light passes through a material . . . and less numbers as it passes through a vacuum, although a (possibly fatal) counter-argument to this point is that particles such as neutrinos can pass through any material at the speed of light without slowing down at all.
Or this may not be a fatal flaw after all, as the neutrinos don’t readily interract with matter, so there aren’t as many numbers for the computer to crunch.
Or this can all be bullshit to begin with.
