Guess I Must Be A Satanist Then!

I kinda agree … I think it was created as mockery but I also think it’s evolved into something much closer to waht CyberLN is saying.

I confess to not having checked in with them in a few decades. I’ll take your estimation on face value. Thanks.

Wrong church. Anton LaVey is the head of the Church of Satan. He has nothing to do with the Satanic Temple, which was founded to challenge religious groups when they overstep the separation of government and religion.

LaVey was the head of the Church of Satan until he died several years ago. His daughter is the head now IIRC.

Yes, he was the head, but now he is dead. Or did he manage to join the undead?

Maybe its the 'frae folk"? or maybe leprechauns?

I personally never understood the TST being atheist. Why evoke such religious imagery and name such as ‘satan’. And that would mostly be viewed as negative. Its a plus however, I suppose that they don’t care how they are viewed. But I am sure many religious people would look at their activities and say…I thought as much.

I certainly hope people can note a difference between a TST atheist, and any other type of atheist

Probably not, but fundamentalists tend to assume the worst about us anyway. I don’t know that TST contributes materially to the problem.

Also, coming from fundamentalism (and being of midwestern stock, which also didn’t help), I had this tendency to fret about what people would think or pearl-clutch about and have had to train myself to not give a hoot about such matters. People think whatever they want or need to think, pretty much regardless of facts.
