Greetings from Australia

Exactly the way you did is fine.
I am here to learn.
Thank you for the information, I was mistaken.

I know very little about the different gods, other than the Christian god.

And you are aware correctly my friend. Ashera as worshipped by the followers of ā€œElā€ is a hearth goddess. A domestic goddess of harmony and the home. Many homes excavated in old Jericho and other sites had shrines to her. She was married to old YHWH that hellraising, unjust, vicious old God of War and Pestilence.

For more information on her self visit the UTA dept of archeology website.

Asherah - Wikipedia

](Asherah - Wikipedia)

Asherah /É™ĖˆŹƒÉŖÉ™rə/, in ancient Semitic religion, is a mother goddess who appears in a number of ancient sources. She appears in Akkadian writings by the name of AÅ”ratu(m), and in Hittite as Aserdu(s) or Asertu(s). Asherah is generally considered identical with the Ugaritic goddess ʾAṯiratu.

This is one wonderful aspect of this forum. We keep each other honest. I have made errors, and been corrected.

The initial response is not positive, but once one learns that all feedback is part of the learning experience and we will be better educated because of that, such actions should be viewed from a positive position.

I am a better person because people like Boomer keep me in line with reality.

Starbuck’s story of their use and choice of a Siren…

https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/2016/who-is-starbucks-siren/

In case you’re wondering, there are two big connections between Starbucks and the seafaring world. 1) Our hometown of Seattle is a port city. We’re right on Puget Sound and we feel this very strong connection to the water. 2) Coffee often travels long distances across the water to get to us. Even today, it arrives at the port in big container ships.

(There was also a rumour that the siren attracted money :moneybag:…money magic, :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

Christians can take anything, ANYTHING, and make it ā€œevilā€, lol.

Don’t drink from a cup with an imaginary two-tailed mermaid or my imaginary god gets mad :rage: (gets??? I think this is god’s default emotion)

The bible certainly depicts a violent, racist, sadistic, bigoted, megalomaniac, with anger management issues. Though ironically, If it’s omnipotent as theists claim, then it needn’t experience any emotion it doesn’t want to. So I can only rationally infer the deity depicted wants to be an angry sadistic mass murderer.

Heaven anyone, for evvvverrrr…

Wait, this isn’t an April fools joke?

Also in Israel as late as the fourth century bce according to Israeli archaeologists Finkelstein and Siberman (ā€œThe Bible Unearhedā€) I find that fascinating. The authors suggest that the official state religion may have been monotheistic worship of YHWH, but that many of the ordinary people kept Asherah as a household god.

Contrary to what I was taught by inference, YHWH was not simply a revelation of the one god always worshipped by the Israelites before the alleged exodus. The process of becoming monotheistic took centuries as far as I can tell.

Thank you for the info. For stuff on Asherath I also recommend :
