Yep! First question asked when someone says they are thinking about suicide. “How would you do it?” (Do they have a plan and do they have the means.) The wrong answer at this point will get you a 72-hour involuntary hold.

Exactly the point I was making. The law provides for the “Least Restrictive Environment.” That means you have to be a danger to yourself or others before anyone can put you away. Danger to self includes suicide but also a failure to meet your own basic needs of food, shelter, or clothing. (Sleeping under a bridge, counts as shelter. Sleeping in an abandoned car counts as shelter. Begging for cash and buying a coffee and McMuffin at MacDonald can count as food. Shelter also includes appropriate clothing for the weather. A blanket in a snow storm could be appropriate. The fact that you were wearing the blanket to stay warm demonstrates that you are sane.)

Yes they do. The issue is not the spirits. You can talk to all the spirits you like. The spirits are only important when they interfere with the quality of your life. When you can not feed, clothe, or secure shelter for yourself… as stated above, these ideas can be very liberal. The state does not want to pay to institutionalize you. Unlike the prison system, you can not be forced onto slave-labor and pay the state back for your incarceration when you aren’t functioning mentally.

And sometimes they don’t treat it with medication, and it goes away. And sometimes you just learn to live with it. I believe there is a movie about a famous mathmatician who simply learned to live with people who were not there. I don’t recall its name or who the person was. Perhaps someone else knows.

Hmmm… Dubious. Yet, there are quacks in every profession and if they can separate you from your money, why not? Another appeal to authority with no teeth. It really does not matter what they think about spirits. They are in the exact same boat as you. NO EVIDENCE AND INANE ASSERTIONS. The fact that they use their credentials to dupe you, makes them no better than a TV evangelist.
