I did read this as I was browsing the mentioned thread:
Atheism attracts some of the most hateful people on the planet.
The irony on that comment, and people agreeing with that statement makes me believe that religion has made lots of people less intelligent. People on that thread spent time and energy to showcase their hate for atheism while saying that it attracts the most hateful people on the planet.
Sounds like the classic religion brainwashing tactic to me, but what do I know? I’m a hateful atheist I guess…

One could assert that not believing in mermaids attracts exponentially more, what do theists imagine this says about not believing mermaids exactly?
There is plenty of longstanding research, spanning decades in various countries, that demonstrates that atheists are at least as moral as theists, when compared objectively.
However even were this argument from morality not a tired old canard theists use, it would not in and of itself evidence a deity, anymore than mass murderers, child abusers, and rapists, not believing unicorns exist, would demonstrate unicorns might be real.
Hitler was a theist, so was Himmler and Goebbels, and Goering, Sandam Hussein, to name but a few, it’s easy to create poisoning of the well fallacies, with lazy stereotyping. There simply is no objective evidence that believing in a deity or deities, makes one more moral, even as an aggregate.
