While this forum’s main topic of discussion is atheism, I believe that scepticism regarding quack sciences is closely related with the former.
And since it’s discussed so rarely on this forum, I believe that a single, general thread is enough for the topic.

In some ways it is hard to laugh at pseudoscience as an American because it’s rapidly becoming ascendant here (and trying to, most everywhere else).
Or in the extreme, there’s just parroted assertions framed as self-evidently true. Michelle Obama is really a man – stuff along those lines.
I think that pseudoscience and religion and conspiracy theories all feed fantasy narratives of what some people wish to be true, and have zero interest in what is actually true. They are so untethered from intersubjective observable reality that it becomes irrelevant.
In some cases it is not so much that they believe their own BS as that they just want to smear people they fear and hate by any possible means, and there’s a growing audience for fear and hate-mongering as well.
