As are Canada’s tar sands, from what I’ve heard. But in a world of dwindling reserves it’s still valuable. But your point does explain why it’s not enough by itself to interest the regime in attacking Venezuela. Here’s the American Prospect’s take:

It’s only profitable to extract and refine Venezuelan crude when oil prices are high. When they drop below a certain level, might as well leave it in the ground.

Saudi and U.S. crude are much easier to extract and refine, and as long as these are available, no one will touch Venezuelan crude.

Megyn Kelly on how the administration should conduct strikes on Venezuelan fishing boats:

“So I really do kind of not only want to see them killed in the water, whether they’re on the boat or in the water, but I’d really like to see them suffer. I would like Trump and Hegseth to make it last a long time so that they lose a limb and bleed out a little.”

She seems nice ………..

She’s a slow learner. By her age most psychopaths have learned not to say that shit out loud.

Yet more evidence that our current government is a kakistocracy.

Seriously? It’s like they have a list of catastrophic ideas they’re systematically making their way through. Vaccines are the closes thing there is to real miracles and they don’t want people to be able to get them. While they’re at it they’re letting racism, robber barons, and the %&^#$ Nazis make a come back. Who are these morons that think any of those things were a good idea in the first place?

Money that is spent to help or provide people with food, shelter, education, vaccines & vital medication, is money that could otherwise have contributed to futher enrichment of the privileged and the oligarchs. From their perspective, I’m sure they see it as a good idea - “we’re paying for all of those things out of our own pockets, so why can’t they?”

The elite class found out how much they need peasants and serfs when they started dying off, so making vaccines out of reach (insurance now has an excuse not to pay for them) seems particularly short sighted. Some of the lowest paid people around here are grocery store workers, and at the start of COVID it was discovered just how badly they were needed. Farmers are also currently figuring out they can’t do without workers. Of course it would take some huge down turn in the working class for the privileged to notice, but they seem to be trying hard to get that out come.

But they will fix the problem by outsourcing production to Mexico or China, or pay extra low wages to all those illegal immigrants, right?

Oh, wait a minute…

There are two sides to the illegal immigration coin. Yes, it’s illegal to be in this country without the proper documentation, but it’s also illegal to hire undocumented immigrants. Illegal immigrants can be, and are, being caught and deported, but I’ve never heard of anyone being prosecuted for hiring illegals.

This double standard is the real reason for the so called “immigration crisis”. The immigrants are coming here for jobs, and if there were no jobs, they’d stop coming. Strictly enforcing the hiring laws would put a quick stop to illegal immigration, but that’s not going to happen because we don’t prosecute monied interests in this country… I suspect that if we did actually enforce the hiring laws, we’d quickly find out how much we actually need these immigrants and would change the law to allow it.

It was always common knowledge at some places I worked that they hired undocumented workers. Everyone knew, especially the employer. It’s just so much easier to punish the people being exploited than the business owner. They do occasionally charge the owner, but then they have to “prove” that they knew the employees were undocumented. I think they actually prosecute about 15 people a year, and a good percentage of those get off completely or get a fine that they just consider the cost of doing business. I think some particularly ignorant politicians , especially in Florida, got some wake up calls on just how much they rely on immigrant labor, but it doesn’t seem to have stopped them from demonizing those people and certainly not made them consider making it easier for them to work here legally.

They demonize them to justify paying them peanuts and denying them the protections afforded to citizens and legal immigrants. They know the undocumented workers are not going to report abuses.

Extra points if the effigy or head were wearing a FIFA “peace” prize.

“A giant figure of the devil holding an effigy depicting the head of U.S. President Donald Trump burns during the annual celebration of the ‘Burning of the Devil’…”

It’s fitting that FIFA, one of the most corrupt organizations on the planet, awards a made up prize to one of the most corrupt humans on earth.

The memes write themselves, too. Sign in front of a restaurant: “Free peace prize with happy meal”. Image of Cracker Jacks with “Free Nobel Prize Inside!”.

Articles of impeachment have been introduced in the House for Bobby Brainworm (RFK Jr.) and Pete Kegsbreath. They won’t go anywhere, of course, but are an important symbolic gesture.

Now Trump has added piracy to his list of crimes committed.
